It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed after treatment. But moving forward starts with focusing on what you can control, instead of what you can’t..

If I had a pound for every time someone told me they were stuck or had no options during a coaching session…
Well, I’d be like Scrooge McDuck diving into his mounds of gold! (IYKYK 😉)
Feeling lost, directionless, or overwhelmed is something I hear often from my clients who want to rebuild their lives following cancer.
There’s this huge pressure to "live life to the full," "seize every moment," or have some life-changing epiphany about what to do next.
This pressure can make it even harder for survivors to act. It can make them feel like they’re stuck, unsure of what they truly want.
So, when someone tells me they feel lost, I ask them simple but powerful questions:
· Are you really stuck?
· What are your options—even the ones you don’t like?
· What would feel like a small step forward, rather than a giant leap?
· If you had a magic wand, what would you do?
A shift in perspective can break the cycle of helplessness. It’s about focusing on what you can control, taking small steps forward instead of overwhelming strides.
Because the truth is, you’re never really stuck or out of options.
You just need someone to help you think clearly, to be a thinking partner, and to hold up the mirror so you can challenge the thoughts or worries holding you back, so you can reflect and then move towards the life you want after cancer.
